MBR therapy is an 'action based' recovery therapy, guiding and coaching people to help them reconnect their mind and body for the purpose of aiding recovery from such things as ME/CFS, Post Viral Fatigue Syndrome, Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS), Fibromyalgia, Anxiety, Depression, and stress related illnesses. To aid recovery and maintain our best health MBR therapy helps explain how the mind and body need to work together to create and maintain health and wellbeing. The therapy was founded by Clare Caldwell and inspired by the teachings of Dr Gabor Maté.
The mind body connection refers to the relationship between our two main intelligences: the thinking brain (mind) and the emotional brain (body). When both intelligences work together as a team it results in balance and stability within your body - a healthy mind body connection.
However, some can become disconnected from their emotional brain, living a life dominated by their thinking brain. In an attempt to warn the body of this mind body disconnection, the emotional brain tries to get our attention in the form of symptoms and sensations. Habitually ignoring these warning messages from our body leads to more and more symptoms. This escalation of symptoms is described as the ‘Symptom State’.
MBR Therapy helps reconnect the thinking brain and emotional brain so that there is no longer a need for the emotional brain to continually warn the body in the form of chronic symptoms, thus bringing you out of the 'Symptom State'.
